Reported Speech

IDEA: Joku sanoo jotain suoraan → Sinä kerrot sen eteenpäin omin sanoin

MUISTISAANNOT

Kun johtolauseessa on said/asked/wondered, kaikki liukuu yhtä taaksepäin!

"IF = kyllä/ei, WH = kysymyssana"

Onko alkuperäinen kysymys kyllä/ei-tyyppiä? → if
Alkaako se kysymyssanalla (what, where, when...)? → pidä se!

"Ei kysymysmerkkia, ei kääntöä!"

Epäsuorassa ei koskaan ? merkkia eikä käänteistä sanajärjestystä.
Aina normaali: tekijä + verbi (ei "was he" vaan "he was")

"I → HE/SHE, MY → HIS/HER"

Muista vaihtaa kaikki pronominit! Kuka puhuu kenelle?

TARKISTUSLISTA (käy läpi joka tehtävässä!):

1. Kysymys vai väite? → if / kysymyssana / that
2. Aikamuoto yhtä taakse? → is→was, like→liked, will→would, can→could
3. Pronominit vaihdettu? → I→he/she, my→his/her
4. Ei kysymysmerkkia? → piste loppuun!
5. Normaali sanajärjestys? → tekijä ennen verbiä

1. Mikä tämä on?

Suora kerronta (direct speech):
Tom says: "I like pizza."

Epäsuora kerronta (reported speech):
Tom said that he liked pizza.

Eli: kerrot mitä joku sanoi, MUTTA vaihdat aikamuodon yhtä taaksepäin.

2. Aikamuodon vaihto (tärkein sääntö!)

Kun johtolause on menneessä ajassa (said, asked, wondered...)
→ aikamuoto siirtyy YHTÄ TAAKSEPÄIN

preesens (I like)	→	imperfekti (I liked)	"I like cats" → He said he liked cats
imperfekti (I called)	→	pluskvamperfekti (I had called)	"I called you" → She said she had called me
preesens perfekti (I have seen)	→	pluskvamperfekti (I had seen)	"I have seen it" → He said he had seen it
will	→	would	"I will help" → He said he would help
can	→	could	"I can swim" → She said she could swim
am/is/are	→	was/were	"I am tired" → He said he was tired
do/does	→	did	"Do you like it?" → asked if I did like... (tai vain imperfekti)

3. Pronominien vaihto

Kun kerrot mitä joku sanoi, "I" ja "you" vaihtuvat:

Suora		Epäsuora
I	→	he / she
my	→	his / her
me	→	him / her
we	→	they
you (sinulle puhuttu)	→	I / me (tai muu henkilö)

Esimerkki:
Mum: "What are you doing?" → Mum asked what I was doing.

4. Ajan ilmausten vaihto

Suora		Epäsuora
today	→	that day
yesterday	→	the day before
tomorrow	→	the next day / the following day
now	→	then
last week	→	the week before
next week	→	the following week
this	→	that
here	→	there

5. Epäsuora kysymys (Reported Questions)

Kysymyksissä on KAKSI tyyppiä:
Kysymyssanakysymys (what, where, when...)
Kyllä/ei -kysymys (Do you...? Is he...? Can she...?)

Tyyppi A: Kysymyssanakysymys (what, where, when, who, why, how)

Kaava: Johtolause + kysymyssana + tekijä + verbi

Suora: "Where is my phone?"
Epäsuora: He asked where his phone was.

Suora: "What are you doing?"
Epäsuora: She wanted to know what I was doing.

HUOM: Ei kysymysmerkkia! Ei käänteistä sanajärjestystä! Normaali väitelauseen sanajärjestys!

Tyyppi B: Kyllä/ei -kysymys (Do you...? Is he...? Can she...?)

Kaava: Johtolause + if + tekijä + verbi

Suora: "Are you busy?"
Epäsuora: He wanted to know if I was busy.

Suora: "Do you have a funny cap on?"
Epäsuora: Mum asked if I had a funny cap on.

Suora: "Can you help me?"
Epäsuora: He wanted to know if I could help him.

6. Johtolauseet (nämä tulevat kokeessa!)

Kokeessa annetaan johtolause valmiiksi. Yleisimmät:

Johtolause	Suomeksi
... asked	kysyi
... wanted to know	halusi tietää
... wondered	ihmetteli / pohti
... also asked	kysyi myös
... said	sanoi (väitelauseelle)
... told me	kertoi minulle

7. Pikaohje - 3 askelta joka tehtävään

Katso onko kysymys vai väite
Kysymys? → Käytä kysymyssanaa TAI if
Väite? → Käytä that (tai jätä pois)

Vaihda aikamuoto yhtä taaksepäin
is → was, like → liked, will → would, can → could, have seen → had seen

Vaihda pronominit ja ajan ilmaukset
I → he/she, my → his/her, you → I/me, today → that day jne.

8. Esimerkkejä monista eri tyypeistä

1. Preesens → imperfekti:
"What are you doing?" → My sister wanted to know what I was doing.

2. Kyllä/ei preesens:
"Are you busy?" → My brother wanted to know if I was busy.

3. Do/Does kysymys:
"Do you have a funny cap on?" → Mum asked if I had a funny cap on.

4. Imperfekti → pluskvamperfekti:
"Did Jesse come home?" → Mum asked if Jesse had come home.

5. Have you... → had:
"Have you eaten?" → Dad asked if I had eaten.

6. Where is...:
"Where is my phone?" → My brother wondered where his phone was.

7. Can you...:
"Can you help me?" → He wanted to know if I could help him.

8. Will + futuuri:
"Will Jesse go to the cinema?" → Mum asked if Jesse would go to the cinema.

9. What time...:
"What time is it?" → My sister wanted to know what time it was.

10. Who called...:
"Who called you?" → She also asked who had called me.

11. Why + negatiivinen:
"Why didn't you call Jesse?" → My sister wanted to know why I hadn't called Jesse.

12. When will...:
"When will you leave?" → My sister asked when I would leave.
